Ismaik sells shares in TSV 1860 Munich – promotion and stadium renovation planned!
Hasan Ismaik retires
TSV 1860 Munich is facing a new chapter! Hasan Ismaik has sold his shares in the traditional club and plans to only be in the stadium as a fan from now on. Report this tz.de and BR. The buyer is a Swiss family holding company whose name is not yet known. The transaction is expected to be completed next week and the purchase price is around 25 million euros.
The sale brings a new glimmer of hope for the Munich Lions. Ismaik had already announced in April 2025 that he wanted to put the club in new hands because it needed a breath of fresh air. He emphasized that the new investor should have a financial cushion of 200 to 300 million euros. He wanted to ensure that the club benefited from such a move.
The TSV 1860: debt-free and on the road
What is particularly positive is that all of the club's loan debts were forgiven as part of this transaction, with the exception of the financing commitments for the current season. This means that Ismaik leaves the club debt-free, which represents a real jackpot for the future. The TSV executive committee expressed optimism about the collaboration with the new investor and sees great opportunities to move up to the 2nd league.
Ismaik's time was not without challenges. Since 2011, he has been involved in various conflicts between the Bureau and other investors and has experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. With the club's relegation from the 2nd league to the regional league in 2017, further financial problems arose. Ismaik himself admitted that he did not understand the culture and history of the club thoroughly enough when he joined. Despite all the adversities, he described his time at TSV 1860 as a “wonderful success story”.
Future plans for the Grünwalder Stadium
A central point of the coming development is the Grünwalder Stadium. The new investor is planning a comprehensive renovation according to DFL specifications, which also requires close cooperation with the city of Munich. The TSV is clearly committed to this stadium as its home and is also planning to build a new sports hall near the performance center to support popular sports.
In earlier considerations, Ismaik even held out the prospect of building a new stadium, presenting two financing models. These included both partnership financing and full financing, in the latter case the club would be the tenant of the new stadium. However, Ismaik never gave concrete figures, and President Robert Reisinger is quickly calling for clear conceptual ideas in order to examine the economic feasibility.
The upcoming decisions regarding the Hemissive and the redesign of the Grünwalder Stadium have not yet been made and could take some time. One thing is certain: The Munich Lions are facing an exciting time in which they can set the course for their sporting future. The goal is clear: promotion to the 2nd league and a return to old strength in the football landscape.
