In September 2025, the Heidelberg City Library will be dedicated to exciting events for young and old. There is a lot on offer, from informative tours to creative workshops and literary evenings that will make the hearts of all book lovers beat faster. MRN News has compiled all the details.

For anyone who would like to take a look behind the scenes of the library, there will be an interesting tour on Wednesday, September 3rd at 5 p.m. The meeting point is in the entrance area of ​​the city library, where participants can find out more about the media and service areas - all free of charge and without registration.

Creative workshops and readings

On Wednesday, September 17th, everything in the Recital Hall will be about moral courage. The workshop, which is organized by the city library, the city of Heidelberg and SicherHeid e.V., offers theoretical knowledge transfer and practical training. Participation is free, but registration is required here stadtbuecherei.information@heidelberg.de requested.

Another event not to be missed is reading together at “SHARED READING: Anyone who listens is already part of it” on Wednesday, September 24th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to take part without registering. An exciting Kamishibai for children also takes place on the same day.

Reading pleasure for the little ones

The children's library also put together a colorful program in September. On Wednesday, September 10th, children aged 3 and over are cordially invited to a German-Spanish story time. Participation is free and requires no registration. Just a week later, on September 16th, there will be the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of stories in a German-Portuguese story time.

A highlight for puzzle fans is the reading with Christian Friedrich about “The Three ??? and the Phantom Crocodile” on Friday, September 26th, for children aged 9 and over, which promises interactive puzzles and exciting stories - also free of charge and without registration.

You can look forward to a literary extravaganza on September 25th, when Henriette Blumenau reads from the book “White” by Han Kang and then the Ginkgo-Biloba Translator Prize for Poetry 2025 will be awarded. Whether words of praise for translators or the enjoyment of poetry - there is something for everyone.
