Large children's culture summer festival: fun and education for everyone!
In the state capital of Munich, a highlight for the younger generation is imminent: The Children's Culture Summer Festival (Kiks) invites you to the Theresienhöhe site from June 6th to 9th, 2025. Here the little discoverers aged 5 to 15 can look forward to a colorful, free program that shines with over 60 events. But that's not all! Until June 5, children and adolescents can take part in the “KiKs on the go” program in various urban facilities, which offers more than 80 events in cultural houses, museums, libraries, playgrounds and parks. Participation is possible without registration, so there is no reason not to stop by.
Inspiration, creativity and participation are the focus of Kiks. The events are divided into nine exciting topics: from "knowledge thirst" to "picture lust" to "stage air" there is something for every taste. Children can become creative as a museum curator, among other things. Sports offers, live performances by young bands as well as dance and acting workshops complete the program. The “KiWS aperture”, which targets the topic of participation, is particularly exciting by emphasizing the perspectives of children and adolescents in participation processes. This aperture no longer appears printed in 2025, but can be found on the newly designed KiWs website. The goal is a media diversity and a long-term use of the content, so reports culture clouds .
a festival of participation
The Kiiks Festival is supported by over 100 players of child and youth work, free organizations, associations, initiatives and urban institutions. "We want to deepen and question the concept of participation," explains the initiator. The festival not only relies on entertainment, but would like to encourage young guests, actively shape them and to participate in various processes. Questions about rooms for active participation and cooperation between children, educators and artists are the focus.
The projects around Kiks are not only leisure fun, but also contribute to an important education. The Foundation Spi offers a wide range of offers that concentrate on leisure activities and educational work. Children and adolescents not only learn a wide variety of skills, but also have the opportunity to take responsibility for themselves and their environment. This always happens in coordination with local partners and is based on the needs of young people.
