The Munich police reported several burglaries, robberies and arrests in the city between May 31 and June 1, 2025.

Burglary in Garching: Perpetrators steal alcohol after winter garden attack!

In Garching, to be precise in a restaurant, the early Sunday morning of June 1st, 2025 was anything but tranquil. A previously unknown perpetrator took the opportunity to enter the restaurant property over a fence around 4:30 a.m. The police report that the intruder broke into the restaurant through the winter garden and searched several rooms. He stole alcoholic beverages, the value of which is stated to be a double-digit amount. The description of the perpetrator is as follows: a male perpetrator, wearing a hoodie, a down vest, sweatpants and a baseball cap. The police are now calling on witnesses who observed something in the area of Münchner Straße, Grünlandstraße or Kufsteiner Straße between 4:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to come forward. The Commissariat 52 will receive information on Tel. 089 2910-0. This was reported by the Bavaria Police.

But Garching wasn't the only stop for crime in Munich this weekend. Because on Saturday, May 31, 2025, several pickpockets were committed in the old town and Fröttmaning. Police arrested two Italian men, aged 53 and 55, red-handed when they stole the wallet of an 85-year-old man. A short time later, a 33-year-old Romanian citizen was arrested, who shortly afterwards tried to steal a 36-year-old woman's wallet. In another case, three Italian men (52, 54, 50 years old) were caught trying to grab wallets. In all three cases, the responsible police station issued 55 arrest warrants and the suspects were transferred to the Munich police headquarters detention center.

Assaults and robbery crimes

At the same time, another worrying development occurred: a 65-year-old from Munich was temporarily arrested on suspicion of upskirting. The man filmed younger women under their skirts and gave the camera and footage to the police before he was released after police action. The investigation was carried out by Commissariat 15.

The weekend did not end on a quiet note, because on Sunday evening, June 1st, 2025, a 28-year-old man in Pasing was the victim of a robbery. He was attacked with pepper spray by two unknown people and robbed. The perpetrator was described as a male, around 30 years old, with southern European appearance and a beard. The attack ended with a 28-year-old being slightly injured and requiring outpatient treatment.

  • Weitere Vorfälle in München am 31. Mai 2025:

Legal aspects

These incidents also shed light on the legal framework for break-ins and thefts. According to Section 244 of the Criminal Code, theft with weapons is punished more severely, even if it occurs on a small scale and involves a few alcoholic drinks. It's not even necessary to carry a weapon; Simply being present can lead to the qualification of the offense. Burglary, especially in a permanently used private apartment, always entails severe penalties. This sheds light on the legal interpretation of theft and burglary.

However, in these unpredictable times, Munich's citizens can continue to rely on the police to take persistent and decisive action against crime. The call for help from my witnesses in the cases described above is of central importance for solving and fighting crime in the city.
