Munich cheers: CSD 2025 brings over 500,000 celebrations to the city!

Mariahilfplatz, 81543 München, Deutschland - Today, on June 28, 2025, Munich shines in the sign of love and diversity, because Christopher Street Day (CSD) has reached its peak. Over half a million people will flock to the city for the pride weekend and celebrate the hustle and bustle. The political parade rolls off at 12 noon, an absolute highlight of this festive event. As early as 8 a.m., around 200 groups gathered at Mariahilfplatz in Au to express their commitment to equality and social acceptance. Under the motto "Liberté, Diversité, Queerité", the parade sends out a strong sign of solidarity.

The route that the participants cover has it and extends over a proud 3.5 kilometers through the city center of Munich. From the Mariahilfplatz, the paths lead over the Reichenbachbrücke and further over Fraunhoferstrasse, Müllerstraße, Blumenstraße and Sendlinger Tor to the turnaround at Stachus before the parade on Maximiliansplatz on Karolinenplatz unfolds. This route is not only a demonstration, but also a celebration of the community that has many colorful facets.

culture and celebrations at Marienplatz

The atmosphere during the CSD is very special, and the center of the event is Marienplatz. Here, visitors can expect around 30 live acts on the main stage, which heat up to the audience. There are also other stages on Wittelsbacherplatz and Kaufingerstrasse that round off the program. The party zone in Ludwigstrasse ensures culinary delicacies and relaxed hours, where gastronomy has gathered on Odeonsplatz. For many, the CSD is not just a demonstration, but a festival for all the senses!

The development of the CSD in Munich is hard to overlook. Since the first "Stonewall demo" on June 28, 1980, this event has changed into a great spectacle for the queer community. The CSD not only brings people together, it is also an expression of the struggle for equal rights. Such demonstrations and festivals have developed strongly in recent years and have become a highlight of the queer culture in southern Germany, as well as the CSD 2024, which took place under the motto "United in diversity - together against right".

The response to this year's Pride weekend shows that the CSD is more than just an event; It is a feeling of belonging together, strength and hope for a better future. Whether on the street or on Marienplatz - it becomes visible what it means to stand up for your own rights and celebrate at the same time. Munich, get ready for an unforgettable day!
